My Antonia
by Willa Cather

A beautiful story about new settlers in the Nebraska farming frontier in the late 1800's. A classic novel and so very well written.

A man sells books from his boat and encounters many people who, ultimately, change his life. Another wonderful read!

I usually like Nora Roberts books but thought this one was slow.

My Dyslexia
by Philip Schultz

This is a fascinating journey inside the mind of a Pulitzer prize winning poet who did not receive a dyslexia diagnosis until his late 50s, when his son was diagnosed. This will give the reader a clear sense of the phenomenal struggles and adaptations that go on inside the brain of someone diagnosed with a learning disability. Also comes in audiobook form for those who are more adept to auditory processing. A short little book that I finished in two days.

This Is How It Always Is
by Laurie Frankel

This was an amazingly thought-provoking, emotionally moving book that had me hooked from page one. I literally could not stop reading it. It deals with how a family deals with the youngest boy, Claude, when he decides he wants to be a girl named poppy. I appreciated the window into the world of gender dysphoria and for the first time, I was challenged to look at my own judgmental attitude toward parents who "allow" this to happen. Laurie Frankel wrote a beautiful, frank, complicated story of the simple truths of what family is all about.
